A from-the-heart collaboration about grief and loss due for release oct. 8, 2026
Over the space of 8 months in late 2022 to mid 2023, I lost three of my siblings to Alzheimer's and dementia related causes. The last three of my immediate family were gone. At first, I never thought I would write about the deeply painful experience of losing three loved ones in a row but, a wide open, heart to heart co-writing session with the very talented and insightful Joanna Butler suddenly felt like the right time to open that lock box and peer inside for the special song that indeed surfaced. I miss my sisters so much but, I know they would all be proud of me and touched by this song,
Human grief is often described as waves, surging and receding over time. “That Last Goodbye" captures the raw waves of emotions of early loss: sadness, confusion, anger, and disbelief. It explores grief’s darker depths while knowing that, as the waves fade, healing and light can return.
Joanna and I are sending "That Last Goodbye" out into the world to find its way to anyone healing from the bewilderment of loss for any reason - and that's all of us.
